The Self-employed Persons Program provides a pathway for individuals to immigrate to Canada permanently as self-employed individuals. To be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Relevant Experience:
- Possess relevant experience in cultural activities or athletics.
- Contribution to Canadian Cultural or Athletic Life:
- Demonstrate the willingness and ability to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada.
This program is designed for individuals who have a track record of experience in cultural or athletic pursuits and are committed to enriching Canada’s cultural or athletic landscape through their contributions. Meeting both criteria is essential for eligibility under the Self-employed Persons Program.
Self-employed Persons Program Eligibility:
To qualify for immigration under the Self-employed Persons Program, individuals must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Relevant Experience:
- Have relevant experience in cultural activities or athletics.
- Experience is considered relevant if the individual has participated at a world-class level or has been self-employed in cultural activities or athletics.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience within the five years preceding the application.
- Willingness and Ability to be Self-employed:
- Must be willing and able to establish oneself as a self-employed individual in Canada.
- Selection Criteria:
- Assessment based on various criteria including experience, education, age, language abilities, and adaptability.
- Medical, Security Checks, and Other Requirements:
- Applicants and their family members must undergo a medical exam.
- Police certificates are required.
- Proof of financial capability to support oneself and family members in Canada.
Definitions:
- Relevant Experience Duration: At least two years of relevant experience within the five years before the application decision.
- Points for Experience: Additional points are awarded for 3, 4, or 5 years of experience.
Applicants are evaluated holistically based on their experience, education, age, language proficiency, and adaptability. Additionally, medical exams, security checks, and financial capability assessments are mandatory for the applicant and accompanying family members.
