Eligibility to Sponsor:
- Be at least 18 years old, and living in Canada.
- Receive an invitation to apply.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or registered under the Canadian Indian Act.
- Demonstrate financial ability to support them.
- Provide proof of income; co-signing with a spouse/partner is allowed.
- Meet Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations requirements.
Income Requirements for Parental Sponsorship:
- Determine the required income before applying.
Undertaking and Sponsorship Agreement:
- Commit to financially supporting the family for 20 years.
- Repay any provincial social assistance received.
- Sign a sponsorship agreement outlining responsibilities.
Residency:
- Primary residence must be in Canada during the application and decision-making period.

- Facing a Removal Order.
Sponsoring Parents and Grandparents:
Who You Can Sponsor:
- Your own parents and grandparents, whether by blood or adoption.
- In the case of divorced parents or grandparents, separate applications are needed. Current spouses, partners, or conjugal partners can be included as dependents.
- Siblings, half-siblings, or step-siblings can be included if they qualify as dependent children.
Income Requirements:
- Must meet income requirements for all sponsored individuals and their dependents (spouse, partner, and dependent children).
Eligibility of Sponsored Individuals:
- Parents, grandparents, and their dependents must provide required forms, documents, and additional information like medical exams, police certificates, and biometrics.
Who You Can’t Sponsor:
- Unable to sponsor your spouse’s parents and grandparents (in-laws).
- Exception: Co-signing on their application is allowed.
- Individuals deemed inadmissible to Canada, meaning they are not allowed to enter the country.
