Eligibility criteria for Express Entry

Language Skills:

  • Canadian Experience Class:
    • English or French skills.
    • CLB 7 for TEER 0 or TEER 1 occupations.
    • CLB 5 for TEER 2 or TEER 3 occupations.
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program:
    • English or French skills.
    • CLB 7.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program:
    • English or French skills.
    • CLB 5 for speaking and listening.
    • CLB 4 for reading and writing.

Type/Level of Work Experience:

  • Canadian Experience Class:
    • Canadian work experience in an occupation listed in 1 or more of these NOC TEER Categories: TEER 0, TEER 1, TEER 2, TEER 3.
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program:
    • Work experience in an occupation listed in 1 of these NOC TEER Categories: TEER 0, TEER 1, TEER 2, TEER 3.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program:
    • Work experience in a skilled trade under key groups of TEER 2 or TEER 3, including specific Major and Minor Groups.

Amount of Work Experience:

  • Canadian Experience Class:
    • One year in Canada in the last 3 years (either combination of full-time or part-time work).
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program:
    • One year continuous within the last 10 years (combination of part-time, full-time, or more than 1 job in your primary occupation).
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program:
    • Two years within the last 5 years (either combination of full-time or part-time work).

Job Offer:

  • Canadian Experience Class:
    • Not required.
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program:
    • Not required.
    • However, you can get selection criteria (FSW) points for having a valid job offer.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program:
    • Required: a valid job offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least 1 year or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial, or federal authority.

Education:

  • Canadian Experience Class:
    • Not required.
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program:
    • Secondary education is required.
    • You can get more selection criteria (FSW) points for your post-secondary education.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program:
    • Not required.

Documents for Your Profile:

  • Passport or Travel Document:
    • A valid passport or travel document.
  • Language Test Results:
    • Proof of language proficiency through language test results.
  • Proof of Canadian Education or Educational Credential Assessment (ECA):
    • If applying through the Federal Skilled Workers Program or seeking points for education obtained outside Canada.
    • Educational Credential Assessment report for immigration purposes.
  • Provincial Nomination (If Applicable):
    • If you have received a provincial nomination, provide relevant documents.
  • Job Offer (If Applicable):
    • A written job offer from an employer in Canada, if applicable.
  • Proof of Work Experience:
    • Documents verifying your work experience.
  • Certificate of Qualification in a Trade Occupation (If Applicable):
    • If applicable, provide a certificate of qualification in a trade occupation issued by a Canadian province or territory.
  • Proof of Funds:
    • Documents confirming that you have the required funds to support yourself and your family in Canada.

Documents for Your Permanent Residence Application:

  • Police Certificates:
    • Provide police certificates from countries where you have lived for six or more months since the age of 18.
  • Proof of Funds:
    • Reconfirmation of documents confirming your financial ability to support yourself and your family in Canada.
  • Birth Certificate (If Declaring Dependent Children):
    • If declaring dependent children, provide their birth certificates.
  • Use of a Representative Form:
    • If you have hired a representative, submit the “Use of a Representative” form.
  • Common-Law Union Form (If Applicable):
    • If declaring your marital status as “common-law,” submit the Common-Law Union form.
  • Marriage Certificate (If Applicable):
    • If declaring your marital status as “married,” provide the marriage certificate.
  • Divorce Certificate and Legal Separation Agreement (If Applicable):
    • If declaring your marital status as “divorced,” submit the divorce certificate and legal separation agreement.
  • Death Certificate (If Applicable):
    • If declaring your marital status as “widowed,” provide the death certificate.
  • Adoption Certificate (If Applicable):
    • If a dependent child is listed as “adopted,” provide the adoption certificate.

Express Entry Profile:

  • Create an online Express Entry profile and provide accurate information about your education, work experience, language proficiency, and other details.
  • Receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on the information provided.

Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS):

  • CRS scores are based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability.
  • The highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence through regular draws.

Invitation to Apply (ITA):

  • Candidates with high CRS scores receive Invitations to Apply (ITAs) during regular Express Entry draws.
  • ITAs are issued based on the CRS score cutoff in each draw.

Permanent Residence Application:

  • Upon receiving an ITA, applicants have 60 days to submit a complete permanent residence application.
  • Medical and security checks are conducted as part of the application process.
