Atlantic Immigration Program Eligibility Requirements:

  • Qualifying Work Experience:
    • Worked at least 1,560 hours in the last 5 years, equivalent to working 30 hours per week for one year.
    • Work experience must be in one of the specified National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021 Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities (TEER) categories.
  • International Graduates:
    • International graduates from a recognized post-secondary institution in Atlantic Canada do not need to meet work experience requirements.
    • Must have studied for at least 2 years and lived in one of the four Atlantic provinces for at least 16 months in the last 2 years.
  • Educational Requirements:
    • Job offer at NOC 2021 TEER 0 or 1 category: One-year Canadian post-secondary educational credential or higher.
    • Job offer at NOC 2021 TEER 2, 3, or 4 category: Canadian high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Language Requirements:
    • Minimum language requirements based on CLB/NCLC 5 for TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3, and CLB/NCLC 4 for TEER 4.
    • Results from a designated language test (less than 2 years old) must be submitted.
  • Proof of Funds:
    • Applicants need to show they have enough money to support themselves and their family when they arrive in Canada, except for those already living and working in Canada with a valid work permit.

Application Process:

  • Job Offer from Designated Employer:
    • Seek job opportunities with designated employers in Atlantic Canada.
    • Job offer must be full-time, non-seasonal, and meet specific duration requirements based on the NOC 2021 TEER category.
  • Settlement Plan:
    • After receiving a job offer, applicants need to get a settlement plan to help them adjust to their new home.
    • Settlement plans are provided by settlement service provider organizations. If already in Canada, work with a provider in the region where you’ll be working. If outside Canada, contact settlement service providers or Francophone organizations.
  • Certificate of Endorsement:
    • The province must endorse the job offer. The employer handles this process.
    • The applicant should not submit the permanent residence application until confirming that the job offer has been endorsed.
    • If endorsed, the applicant receives a Certificate of Endorsement.
  • Document Preparation:
    • Gather necessary documents, including language test results, educational credential assessment (if applicable), and proof of funds.
    • Use the provided checklist to ensure all required forms and documents are included.
  • Apply Online:
    • Create a Permanent Residence Online Application Portal account.
    • Fill out digital forms for the principal applicant and family members (if 18 or older).
    • Submit required documents, including the employer’s Offer of Employment form.
  • Pay Fees Online:
    • Pay required fees, including the biometrics fee.
  • Biometrics:
    • Schedule and provide biometrics at the specified location.
  • Submission:
    • Ensure all questions are answered, electronically sign the application, and include the processing fee receipt.
    • Submit the application online.
  • Follow Up:
    • Keep a copy of the submitted application for records.
    • Await further instructions and updates on the application.
